KinderBach {Review}

For the past two months Sir N has been using an online piano program via The KinderBach Online Piano Lesson Membership with Teacher Corner.   This program has been developed by Karri Gregor who has an extensive background in music education, singing, visual arts, theory etc. Karri acknowledged the need of young children to exercise their imaginations while learning music concepts and the parent’s need of appealing material that will hold a child’s interest at home so she developed KinderBach.

What We Did
I started off by accessing the program and working my way through some of the classes until I found the right level for Sir N.  He started with piano last year and has not been practicing for a while.  We used KinderBach to help him remember what he learned and to reinforce music theory. He got to meet the Beat Bug Brigade. Each week he was able to master a new concept through hands on activities. The Beat Bugs are being instrumental in helping him grasp note value.

One of the most valuable aspects of the program is the Teacher's Corner.  Here you will find
  • Story Books
  • Three Coloring Books
  • Song Books and MP3s to 75 songs
  • Teachers Aids
  •  Student books,
  • Lesson plan books,
  • Certificates
  • Goal books.  As your student completes a lesson / concept you can mark it off in this book which serves as a visual reminder of  what they have learned and accomplished so far.
Each of the books are in eBook PDF format. You have the option of printing a complete level in one go or you can choose to print each lessons pages as you need them. All of the PDF's are grouped together by level. There are seven levels in total.

Once logged in I used the Learning Center to navigate the levels.  The information map was invaluable to helping me see what we needed to do each week.  There is a colum on the left to mark off each activity so you know straight away where you are and what is coming up.

When you go into each level each week has it's own box containing each days lesson. There are four lessons to a week.  You can go as fast or as slow or repeat any lesson as you want.

After finding the level Sir N was at we launched into watching the lesson video's and completing the accompanying book work.

Each session was between two and five minutes long.  Teacher preparation time was very little on my part as all the work is already done for you in the video lessons.

What We Thought
This program is well thought out and put together. I like the way it uses everyday terminology to help children grasp theory concepts. Little people enjoy movement and the program uses physical movement in order to help children learn the basics of music theory.  The games reinforce learning and the characters are charming.  Young students will benefit greatly from this easy to use format.  Parents without any musical training are fully supported in helping their children to learn to play the piano and understand music theory all from the comfort of their own homes.  You can access the first two weeks of lessons FREE.

One of our favourite things about Kinderbach is that ALL of the video's in the Learning Center are formatted  to play on Mobile Devices.  It's so good to be able to have Sir N at the piano with our Samsung Tab on the piano music stand where he is able to watch and do with it right in front of him. KinderBach Levels 1 to 3 are available in iPad/iPhone apps along with 6 fun iPad games.

If you have young children whom you would like to learn to play the piano I highly recommend KinderBach.

I have been trying to follow a more delight directed approach in our home education. Part of this is learning to flex to accomodate Sir N's current interests.  His present passion is all things science so when Science4Us.com offered us the chance to use their product we jumped at the opportunity. We have spent the last month exploring four different fields of science using Science4Us.com Online Subscription.

Their mission is to provide your student with a solid foundation in scientific concepts. Science4Us.com recognizes that digital learning can be used to create a positive effect upon a students motivation to learn. Their core belief is that
"Science should be experienced, not just read about in books"

Their passion is that all children have a solid foundation in science with an excellent underpinning of STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) Science4Us.com uses the 5E instructional model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and Evaluate) in all their units.

What We Did
The log in page has two options one for the students and one for Teacher/Admin.   The Teacher area is an utter gold mine of information.  If you are not scientific by nature this area is your saving grace. There is a getting started video explaining the many area's available to you.  It is well worth watching or you will miss out on the huge amount of resources that are available for you.

Once you have selected the module you are working through you will be taken to the above page.  On the left of the page you will see
  • Over all information
  • A description of the module
  • The essential vocabulary
  • Teacher Essentials
In the right hand colum you will find
  • The eight sessions for the particular module including an estimated time frame for each session including a detailed instructional video with suggested lesson plan.
  • A detailed activity description
  • Student objectives
  • A link to preview the activity
  • Printable teacher guides
  • Off line materials for students as well
  • Lesson plans with easy to follow guides to present the materials.
You can view a comprehensive progress report under the student reports tab.  You can see an overview of their total time spent on Scienc4Us.  I was a little astonished to see that Sir N had already spent 1395 min (23 hours) on Science4Us.com From here you can select a module to view all the individual activities.  At a glance you can see which activities have been completed (these are represented by a star) and the percentage scored on graded activities.  Notebook activities are available at a click and you can add your own words of encouragement to your student here too or print them for their personal folders. Students have access to their own reports and can keep track of their own progress at a glance as well. When you drill down into a particular module you have the option to see total min spent on each section, first attempt date, first completion date and scores and completion.

There are seven tutorial video's for you to watch.  These are well worth your time as you will better access all the amazing features available to you in Science4Us.com.

Sir N has been working on a 2nd grade level within Science4Us.com I chose not to individually assign each days work but rather allow him to enjoy learning freely within Science4Us.com and supplementing his work online with activities from the Teacher Area as he goes along. I asked him to start in one area and work his way through ALL the activities before proceeding to the next one on the list. So far he has only worked through the Physical Science area of the program (Matter, Force & Motion and Energy). He has completed Matter and is currently working through Energy.  He has learned about energy sources, light energy, heat energy, sound energy and is currently working through the Electrical energy unit.

The short cut area under Recent Activity in the center panel makes it easy for him to find the activity he used the last time he logged in.  He does not need to go through many screens looking for his last activity he can simply access his last activity in one click.

Sir N enjoys watching Pinky's videos and he loves the creative activities that are provided through out his learning.  Each activity is unique and captivating.  He likes to do the interactive activities. His favourite  activity is Syllables with Silly Bulls.  I always know when he is doing this activity because of the laughter that erupts each time the Silly Bulls arrive on screen.  This activity has really helped Sir N with his reading and writing skills.  I have been surprised by what he has accomplished.

Curriculum
Science4Us.com covers four "books" of science. There are over 350 online lessons and plenty of hands on activities and worksheets.  This is not just science it builds your students math and language skills and if you are a home educator it provides home school portfolios.
Scope and Sequence

Age Range
This online program is aimed at grades K-2nd (children in the 3 - 7 year old age range) but can be used by students who are slightly older or younger.

Cost
  • Individual pricing is $7.95 per child per month.

What We Thought
Sir N would love to spend all day on the site exploring science.  I am impressed with the lessons they are not dumbed down in order for the students to understand.  They use excellent vocabulary.  For example in one of the lessons he had to demonstrate that he understood the difference between Qualitative and Quantitative.

We have both enjoyed the depth and scope of Science4Us.com.  It's the high light of Sir N's school day and he looks forward to it with eager anticipation.

My one disappointment is that this only goes to 2nd grade.  I sincerely hope that over time more grades will be added.

Science4Us.com is a gold mine.  I highly recommend this resource to all my home school friends.  It's fun, twaddle free and interesting.  No prep work for you the Mom other than printing off some worksheets and collecting a few items for which ever experiment or hands on activity you have chosen.

In my life this week…
This week I read one of the most profound blog posts I have read in a very long time.  It was refreshing and oh so very true.  I have personally experienced this and it was so liberating and healing to read Why miscarriage matters when you're pro-life.
Tired does not even begin to describe how my brain is feeling at the moment...  Next week we are going away to the Corinella for a short family camping vacation.  I am really looking forward to sleeping in and no where to be.  Oh and a tall stack of books to read ...  Any recommendations ???

In our home school this week…
  • We finished reading The Apple & The Arrow. This is the story of William Tell.
  • We watched episode two of Archaeology: A Secret History.  This is a BBC documentary discovering the history of archaeology and is presented by Dr Richard Miles.
  • We spent some time watching Backyard Science on iView.
Episode 4 - chemical reactions, megaphone, magnets
Episode 5 - experimented with air flow (balloon experiment),  Giovanni's clapping box, water clock, how to make a spoon sound like Big Ben's bell.
Episode 6 - Make a string telephone, find out about salt and ice, speed boats using baking soda and vinegar,
Episode 7 -  We learned about water surface tension (3 experiments), capillary action (1 experiment), ice friction and how your eyes work in the dark
Episode 8 - Butterfly growth, eyesight (depth of field), make a boomerang, what is in a potato,

    Motivated Moms {Review}

    $

As much as I dream of having a perfect home the reality is that we have been living in C.H.A.O.S (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome) for a while now ... Generally speaking I love being organized, clean and having a place for everything.  Over the past few years as the stresses of immigration, raising a young family, walking a challenging road with teens working their way through issues I have found that more and more I don't have the stamina, mental or emotional energy reserves that it takes to keep our home in order.  Recently I was blessed with a review copy of Motivated Moms.  What a wonderful resource this has become.  I'm a book lady so was really pleased with my Motivated Mom's printable eBook.

    What We Did
The hardest part was choosing which eBook I wanted.  I was rather spoiled for choice with 8 options available either in colour or black and white.  Each option has a sample page for you to see.

    Some of the options are
    • Colour or black & white in each version
    • Half or full size
    • Page per day with bible readings
    • Page per day with chore planner
I settled on the full A4 size 2014 Motivated Moms Chore Planner with Scheduled Bible Reading {Color}. I took my PDF copy down to Officeworks and had it printed and spiral bound. The planner I choose is a total of 55 pages including the cover page.

Each page is a week in a view.  The left hand column contains daily chores such as make beds, feed pets etc.  If you have children who can read it is an excellent list to help them too to remember what needs to be done and to create excellent daily habits.  Beneath each chore is seven check boxes in order to mark off as you go.  There are four blank lines for you to add in your own choice of daily chores.

Right at the bottom of this left hand column is a weekly Bible reading schedule.  I had good intentions of using this this year but have recently commenced an in depth bible study so I am aiming to take this up later in the year.  I love this feature as it means that all my daily tasks including my bible reading is in one place.  This is an optional add in.

To the right of this column is your week at a glance special chores.  This contains between two and six tasks a day to complete.  I can say one thing for our home it now has clean light switches, dusted hall way skirting, each shelf in the fridge has a dedicated week it gets cleaned, my pile of to file away is slowly diminishing and even the porch area is beginning to receive some much needed tender loving care.  I like how some of the chores are scheduled on a rotational basis so I know if I miss cleaning that spot this week in a few weeks time it will come around again and I will be able to get it done.
"Make Every Day Count - Motivated Moms"

I love their mantra of making every day count.  I am seeing how true this is.  If I accomplish just one thing on the list today I have made it count and it has not gone to waste.  Some days we barely get the basics done and on other days we choose maybe two of the six suggested activities.  Motivated Moms is being true to it's name and is motivating me daily to clean small manageable areas in our home.  The fruit of this is becoming more evident.  It is helping me not to feel so overwhelmed with the task before me and I am enjoying having a little more time to do the important things like reading for fun because I am not spending mental energy on trying to figure out what's next to do, it's all been done for me.  It's making a calmer Mom and a happier home.

Each week there is a dedicated de-clutter assignment which I love.  I am a little bit of a hoarder and having this as an assignment is helping me to de-clutter as I go and this in turn is helping to make things more manageable for me and Sir N at the same time.

My favourite part of Motivated Moms is Monday's weekly scheduled Pamper Yourself task.

If you are not a book person and would prefer an app be sure to check out the key features available in the Motivated Moms apps.  Things such as being able to send daily chores by email for printing, assigning tasks to people and the ability to add in an unlimited number of custom tasks.

The last page of the planner contains a two week reproducible menu planner.

My planner lives in the kitchen / dinning area for quick reference. Sir N has recently started reading independently so I have decided to use colour high lighters as a way of assigning tasks to me, to Sir N and some for us to do together.  I will be leaving blank the tasks that are not applicable to our home such as cleaning the stair case or second floor living area.  We use this during our daily half hour cleaning session.

    Cost
    • eBooks (16 formats to choose from) $8 each for one complete year.
    • iPhone/iPad/iPod is $1.99 for two months OR a year for $7.99
    • Android from Google Play $5.99
    Connect with  Motivated Moms
    What I Thought
This is a well presented book with multiple formats to choose from.  It is excellent value for money. Motivated Moms will save you time and mental energy as the planning has all been done for you.

Say goodbye to once a year spring cleaning and hello to day by day clean as you go.  Motivated Moms helps you reclaim your home and has done ALL the planing for you.  This product is Mom's best friend.

      Egglo Entertainment {Review}

We love all things glow in the dark around here.  Sir N especially enjoys searching for things and recently we have added Glow in the Dark Egglo Eggs to our list of items in the house from Egglo Entertainment.  The companies goal is to create a product that would empower parents and those working with children with products that would help children clearly see the light of Jesus in the dark through practical hands on ways.

      We Received

      What we did
Glow in the Dark Egglo Eggs: Sir N loved receiving the eggs and book in the mail. They are made of a strong durable plastic in four colours. The blue and green egg halves have a cross embossed on them and the pink and yellow ones are smooth. The egg halves clip into each other to form an egg shape.  These can be filled with anything from candy to scripture scrolls. Once they have been fully charged they glow brightly for approximately 45 minutes and then gradually diminish over the next one to two hours.

When they arrived he grabbed the box of eggs and spent the afternoon playing with them.  Mixing and matching the colours.  Hiding the eggs and finding them.  He couldn't wait to see what they looked like charged so they were carefully placed in the box and taken outside into the sun to charge up.

The motivation to create the glow in the dark eggs is found in John 1:5The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. Charging the eggs did not take long at all.  Included in the box is a pamphlet explaining how to charge the eggs for maximum glo effect.

The next day we took sometime to read The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure.
      • 40 pages
      • Author: Darcie Cobos
      • Illustrated by: Golden Streen Animations

Sir N loved looking at the illustrations which are eye catching and contribute to each part of the story.  The story follows the quest of cousins Hardy, Anastasia, Pascal and their pet dog Zeke.  Not only do they travel through time, they explore many different places and discover what it truly means to follow Jesus and internalise His word and how to apply it to their day to day activities.  As the children discover each egg they are presented with a scripture and a riddle.  Once the riddle has been solved and they understand the scriptural application of the scripture they are transported to the next part of their journey.  Some of the places they visit are Egypt, Easter Island and Iceland.

Follow the three as they learn what it means to lead and follow.  We enjoyed seeing them mature and grow towards a fuller understanding of Jesus and just what He did for them at Calvary.

At the start of the story these three children are self focused and selfish by the time they return home they have come to understand what submission and walking in the light of Jesus truly means.  There are many life application situations which speak directly to the heart of the matter for your children in this story.

Some of the life application lessons learned are: Don't be bossy, submit one to another;  Do not be afraid for the Lord is always with you;  Listen to the wise and do not be foolish are just three of the life lessons learned.

The book concludes with the children being returned home, realising the Easter is not about chocolate and egg hunts it's all about Jesus and the gift He gave.  It focuses children's hearts on the reason we celebrate Easter. The children then join their parents and enjoy a glo in the dark Easter egg hunt where their parents are surprised by the changes they see in their children's behaviour.

We both enjoyed this book.  You can view an overview of the complete story over on YouTube.

The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure (audio book) The audio book is beautifully narrated by Dick Wells.  A gentle tinkle of a bell indicates when it's time for the children to turn the page and follow the story.  This is a great way for children to hear the story over and over or for a presentation at church. Before using this you need to explain to the children that when they hear the bell it's time to turn the page. I would love for the narrator to explain this before commencing reading the story.
The format of this reading has some extra musical sounds to help enhance the story.  For example when the children arrive in Egypt there is some Egyptian music.

The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure Program Guide
        • Illustrated by Golden Street Animation Productions
        • Written & edited by Elaina Meyers
        • Pages: 62

This guide is just brimming with ideas to help you make Easter come alive for your children in a practical way with your children by making Jesus the center of every activity and pointing their hearts to Him. All the activities are family friendly and fun.

There are ideas for decorating, snack suggestions, devotions with object lessons, Q & A

Each snack/devotion suggestion gives you a full list of what you need, preparations and step by step tutorials along with questions to ask the students which help focus their attention on what Jesus did and how He is the light of the world.  I'm looking forward to using more of these ideas as we get closer to Easter.

There is a section of ideas to use alongside the The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure book and the scripture scrolls.

All the additional resources are in the book from page 19-58. There are invitations, decorations, resources to fill the eggs, discussion cards, puzzles, posters and coloring pages.  You can see a full range of sample pages on the website.

Egglo Treasures Scripture Scrolls Scripture is at the heart of this story. Learning how to live by His word and allowing it to be a light to our path in every day life.  Jesus is real and His light can shine through us as we walk in the light of His word and apply the truth of that light allowing it to shine through us.

        Each scroll contains a simple verse based on: 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Deuteronomy 6:5, proverbs 3:5-6, Matthew 5:16 and 28:20, John 1:4, 1:5, 3:16, 8:12 and 12:46. There are 12 verses in all.

        In the Future
We will be decorating an egg carton and for the twelve days leading up to Easter I will be doing an Easter countdown with a scroll and a small item symbolizing some part of the Easter story.  I will hide the egg in the house and after dinner give Sir N a clue as to where to find it.  This will conclude with the resurrection and that Jesus is the light of the world on Easter Sunday.  He will then store the found egg and it's contents in the special egg carton we have decorated.  (I will update here with pictures upon completion of his collection.) My aim is to focus his heart on the incredible gift of the Light of the World who came down to save us.

        What we thought
We both enjoyed reading The Egg-cellent Easter Adventure and following the adventure. The glow in dark eggs have been a huge hit with Sir N.  The possibilities of use are only limited by your imagination.  The product is well priced and worth purchasing you will get many years of use from them.

Bonjour, ça va ? Can you guess what we've been up to ? That's right we have started learning a second language via Mango Homeschool.  We have had so much fun trying to see who could remember the right French word in the short quizes during our lessons.  This product was provided to the Schoolhouse Review Crew by Mango Languages.

Mango Languages has been in existence for about 7 years and started in the public library sector. They have expanded their platform to provide custom language learning products. They now have seven different products available
        1. Personal
        2. School K-12
        3. Public Library
        4. Higher Education
        5. Government (Military)
        6. Corporate
        7. Mango Homeschool

        What we received
The Beta version of Mango Homeschool.  We chose to learn French (European) to learn.

        How we used it
We have chosen to learn French using their Mango Passport French (European). Upon sign up we received a welcome letter with links to Vimeo clips showing a walk through on how to: Activate and Set Up Your Account, Selecting a Mango Language Course, linking accounts (for parents) and creating a Network. These videos were very helpful.

When you log into Mango Languages you are taken to your dashboard. There are excellent walk through tutorials on your Dashboard. Each of these use screen shots with detailed walk through on how to manage your account, set up your profile, select a mango language course and explore the language course.

One of the neat features of Mango is setting up your time zone which in turn allows them to co-ordinate all your meetings with people from multiple time zones across the world.  We did not use any of the meetings as I did not want Sir N chatting to people we did not know but I did think this was a handy feature.

The home screen is very simple to navigate and everything is easy to find.

This is our language log in screen.  From here we had direct access to the discussions, forums, members etc via the tabs along the top.  At the bottom you can see how many journey's are available to you in your chosen language.  Ours has three.  Under the file section there were three handy PDF downloads of the journey.  Journey one contained 181 pages. I love these PDF's they are well worth printing and having on hand for revision and reinforcement.

These contained a great summary of each journey along with excellent vocabulary review pages. We found them useful for review. Each PDF contained: Each journeys complete set of cards with translations and explanations,  a quick phrase review section, cultural and grammar notes explaining each french word learned in that unit.

        Samples
Cultural Notes:  Bonjour, ça va ? is a polite, but not stiff, way to greet someone."
Grammar Notes: "You" can be translated by tu or vous in French. Tu is informal and used only with well-known acquaintances. Vous is the polite way to say "you" when speaking to strangers. We use it all the time in restaurants, shops, etc., to be respectful.

On the top right we would log into our class via the Login to Mango button.  This activates a pop up screen which used flash in order to run the course. I really like that we could go as fast or as slow as we needed through each lesson.

The classroom is pleasing to look at and easy to navigate.  You have access to the course library on the top right via a drop down menu. From here we could select which unit we wanted to work on and once we have completed all the units (there are four in the first level) there is a course exam to take.  We have not accessed that yet.
On the left there is a handy menu to leave the development team feedback.  You can share an idea, report a course error or request customer service.
At the bottom of the screen there is also a handy keyboard shortcut guide.
You have the option of turning the naration on or off for the course and setting the sound level.

The welcome screen shows you at a glance the last time you logged in and the chapter number you are currently working through. From here you have three options: Resume your lesson, Browse the Course Menu or take a Placement Test.

Mango Languages uses a flashcard system based upon Intuitive Language Construction®. At the beginning of each lesson you are given a summary of the conversational and grammatical goals of the lesson. At the bottom is a slide rule which shows you how many flashcards are in your lesson and what number card you are on. The top right has a note telling you which unit you are on, the chapter and chapter content. You have the ability to replay the card as many times as you need in order to learn the phrase.  There is also an option to see the literal translations of the language.

        Sample card

Sir N and I would sit together and listen to the teacher explain each word and sentence.  We learned a lot about the French culture, pronunciation and subtle nuances of their language.  For example:

Oh, good morning. How are you?
(Hold it, good morning. How is it going?)

        Tiens, bonjour. Ça va ?
        (teea(n), bo(n)joor. sa va ?)

Tiens is a colloquial way to express a slight surprise and comes from the verb "to hold" (tenir). Many expressions in French wouldn't mean much when literally translated. For instance, Ah tiens,ça va? translates to "Oh, hi there! How are you?" We don't actually ask the person to "hold" anything.
We really like how they use colour to co-ordinate the translation and found this helpful in learning the new words and prompting our memory of words already learned. Once you have learned a few phrases you would be prompted with a question in English and up pops a timer giving you a few seconds to remember the French.  Then the French sentence would pop up.  Sir N and loved these, we race to see who can remember first.

Depending on your concentration level and ability to retain the new phrases you can log out at any time by simply closing down the pop up window.  Mango auto saves your spot so when you log back into your class your start where you finished off your last lesson. I really like this feature as it means there is no scrolling through in order to find where you were last week.

There is a voice comparison feature but we have not used that yet.  It looks like it would be a fun way to work on our pronunciation.

        Would we change anything ?
Over all we really enjoy Mango Homeschool and look forward to using some of their future upgrades. I would love for them to add a quick log in option on the home page. Secondly with today's internet concerns and young children I would like to see an option where the parent controls the access  to some of the features where students have access to other people.

        In the Future
I learned that there are some exciting new applications in developement and look forward to having access to them

        What we thought
We have both enjoyed using Mango Languages and look forward to improving our French speaking this year.  This product is easy to use and works well with different ages and abilities.  Your students do not have to be able to read in order to use Mango Homeschool.  I highly recommend this product and look forward to all the upgrades that Mango Languages have in the fututre for Mango Homeschool

This book is one of those timeless classics that can be read over and over.  It's a beautifully written novel about a Dutch town who decide to bring back the storks.  We learned a valuable lesson with this book the first time we read it.  It was a hard book to get into it just didn't grab from the first page.  I was enjoying it but the children kept asking "Must we read this book Mom ?" I am so glad I pushed through and said yes.  It is one of those books that lay the foundation for the story in the first quarter of the book and after that it comes together and comes alive in your hands.  It is so worth the effort of reading it together.  It's beautifully written and informative with a touch of nostalgia.  I am looking forward to re-reading this book together with Sir N in a couple of months.

        Description of the story
"Why did the storks no longer come to the little Dutch fishing village of Shora to nest? It was Lina, one of the six schoolchildren, who first asked the question, and she set the others to wondering. And sometimes when you begin to wonder, you begin to make things happen. So the children set out to bring the storks back. They had to overcome many obstacles, including the fierce and threatening sea. But they wouldn't give up - and soon their determination and their vision got the whole village working, until at last the dream began to come true. - Book Depository"

        This Week
Back and ready to go after our holiday last week.  A few weeks ago I shared how we discovered  The Lorax has a step by step drawing tutorial. This week we found that Turbo has one too.

Today we chose to draw Turbo in his racing outfit.  The step by step instructions were not as detailed as in The Lorax so we had to pause the DVD often but I am very pleased with the results.  What do you think ?

        In my life this week…
Why is it that when people are angry with one another that they take to defamation ?  I've seen this happen to someone special this week and then was reminded of the scripture in Isaiah 54:17No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.

I have resumed my photography course! I was feeling a little despondent with it all and a friend recently encouraged me to take it up again.  What do you think ?

Instead of bragging about our sleep deficits, she urges us to shut our eyes and see the big picture: We can sleep our way to increased productivity and happiness -- and smarter decision-making. "She
Why do we sleep? by Russell Foster. "He is a circadian neuroscientist: He studies the sleep cycles of the brain. And he asks: What do we know about sleep? Not a lot, it turns out, for something we do with one-third of our lives.
